Watch What Happens When Sports Stars Spruik Strange Products

Whether it’s Shane Warne speaking italian for Leggo’s pasta sauce or Cristiano Ronaldo playing with a weird boomerang-shaped Japanese facial fitness product, famous athletes have a knack for terrible acting in strange commercials. Check out B&T’s list of sports stars spruiking stuff:

HAWTHORN FOOTBALL CLUB

They might be the reigning premier for the past three seasons, but this ad is just embarrassing. Hawthorn has called on the singing power of its players in an attempt to break their membership record for the tenth consecutive year in a parody of One Direction’s latest single, History.

“The more people that sign up the less they’ll see that video,” Hawks skipper Luke Hodge said.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in a TVC for Israeli telecom firm HOT and a Japanese facial fitness device.

CHARLES BARKLEY

Played in the National Basketball Association (1984–2000) for Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. He also made an appearance in Space Jam. In 2011, Barkley became a spokesman for WeightWatchers, promoting their “Lose Like a Man” program and appearing in both television and online ads.

JOE FLACCO

Joseph Flacco is an American football quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. He’s also been the Piza Hut of Marylands spokesperson since 2010. “He caught it!”.
