Nike Unveils Absolute Tear-Jerker, As It Signs First Athlete With Cerebral Palsy

Nike has continued its stellar year of ads, unveiling its latest campaign that won’t leave a dry eye in the house.

The ad stars American freshman Justin Gallegos who runs half marathons for University of Oregon running club and also happens to have cerebral palsy.

The emotive spot sees Gallegos running for the finish line, believing the cameras are there for a segment for World Cerebral Palsy Day which was last Saturday.

After Gallegos crosses the line, he’s met by Nike product insights director for running footwear, John Truax, who informs him that Nike has signed him on a three-year contract as one of the brand’s ambassadors.

Check out the highly emotional spot below (and maybe have the tissues on hand, too.)

Gallegos later posted to Instagram: “Growing up with a disability, the thought of becoming a professional athlete is as I have said before like the thought of climbing Mt. Everest. I was once a kid in leg braces who could barely put one foot in front of the other. Now I have signed a three-year contract with Nike Running.”
