Holden Pips Adultery Site For Most Complained About Ad Of 2015

Don’t piss off the grey nomads appears to be the current mantra in Aussie advertising after a Holden ad that decried “bloody caravaners” came in top of the Advertising Standard Board’s most complained about ads for 2015.

The Holden ad scored 161 complaints to the ABS ranging from unsafe driving to foul language. However, the complaints were later dismissed.

Interestingly, the Holden spot even beat adult adulterer website Ashley Madison whose TVC featured married men singing about the joys of affairs and received 138 complaints. The resulting complaints saw the ad banned.

Stan came in third for the most complained about ad after the spot’s star, Aussie actress/comic Rebel Wilson, described a cat as her “big pussy”. The ad got 66 complaints, all of which were overturned by the ABS.

The fourth most complained about ad was for Fantastic Snacks and generated 63 complaints, all of which were dismissed. Fifth was Lynx for its ad that featured two men kissing.

While The Monkey’s TVC for Bingle Car Insurance that features a CGI-generated chimp parachuting garnered 41 complaints for animal cruelty. All of which were dismissed.

Campaigns for the new Poltergeist film, the Body shop, another for Ashley Maddison and Victorian Hearing’s “hearing aids are ugly” rounded out the top 10 of most complained about creatives.
