Heinz Baked Bean Ad Banned Over Fears Someone Could Slice Off A Finger

More proof the world has gone completely mad comes news out of the UK that a new ad for Heinz Baked Beans has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for fears someone could accidentally amputate a finger.

The premise of the ad has bean eaters tapping out a tune on used baked bean tins. Check out all the evilness here:

However, the ad’s since been pulled following fears it could lead of over-zealous can bongers slicing off their digits. Kraft – the maker of Heinz Baked Beans in the UK – has denied the allegation. The company also said there were online tutorials to show bean eaters how to hit their tins safely.

A spokesperson for Heinz said: “We believe this popular ad did not pose any safety risk and many fans were inspired to create their own video versions.”

Media reports in the UK have revealed that there had been three complaints surrounding the ad since it went to air. The complaints suggesting that the ad sent a dangerous message to children.

The Advertising Standards Authority agreed that the ad showed trained actors but mistakes could still be made.

In a statement it said: “For the reasons given and because the ad did not include information on how to ensure consumer safety when recreating the song, we concluded that the ad condoned and encouraged behaviour that prejudiced health or safety,” the decision continued.

“We told Heinz to ensure that future ads did not condone or encourage behaviour that prejudiced health and safety, including behaviour that could be dangerous for children to emulate, for example by featuring open tin cans being used to play music.”
