Goa Gets Charitable With Multicultural Campaign For MDA

Queensland’s largest signage and digital billboard company, goa, has partnered with Queensland multicultural organisation MDA, to bring to life the #CreateWelcome campaign.

From 1 April to 30 June, interactive multimedia billboard messages will be welcoming refugees and people seeking asylum to Australia, alongside a surge of social media support from some leading personalities.

“Goa is using our network of multimedia billboard technology to help create a positive social environment in Queensland, welcoming new arrivals and promoting inclusion from the broader community. Our billboard network currently reaches over two million people a week, so it is exciting to use it for the greater good on the #CreateWelcome campaign, alongside MDA’s wealth of experience in the multicultural sector,” said goa chief executive, Chris Tyquin.

Leading profiles such as the actress Jess Tovey, writer Benjamin Law, Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young, comedian Tom Ballard and a host of others from stage, screen, sport and politics will be participating in the #CreateWelcome campaign, using their social media influence to support the project.

People can join the #CreateWelcome movement by stepping into a #CreateWelcome Social Booth. The Social Booth will be situated at various sporting, cultural and lifestyle events where people can construct their welcome message and upload via Instagram using the #CreateWelcome hashtag. Goa will then broadcast the image across numerous digital billboards in Queensland, creating a greater a sense of community between Australia and the 13,000 new arrivals who call Australia their new home each year.

Can’t get to a booth? You can also get involved by ordering a WelcomeKit from the createwelcome.com website.

“The #CreateWelcome campaign couldn’t be happening at a more important time. Messages of inclusion, friendship and generosity will tackle negative rhetoric and represent our shared promise to people seeking a safer life in Australia,” said Kerrin Benson, MDA chief executive officer.

“It’s very exciting knowing MDA and goa are combining for such a positive social initiative as it takes collective effort to create an inclusive, welcoming community,” Benson added.
