“F@ck Me! That’s Low Prices!” Outdoor Goes Hilariously Awry

A billboard in Palmerston North on New Zealand’s north island has gone viral after it was placed next to a light pole, changing the advertising message in a wholly more sinister way.

The ad, for discount grocer Pak’nSave, played on a rugby theme to coincide with the current World Cup in Japan.

The ad reads, “Ruck me! That’s low prices”, however, a nearby lamp post has obscured the “R” to make it look like an “F”.

And, as these things do, people immediately took to social media to extol their joy at the mishap. Some wags even suggesting it was a deliberate marketing stunt by the grocery chain.

However, a Pak’nSave person dismissed the allegation, telling local media: “Regarding the placement of this particular poster, a quick shuffle to the left or right resolves the pole situation.”

Apparently, its not the first time Palmerston North residents have been exposed to vulgar outdoor advertising. People taking to social media to suggest the Pak’nSave campaign reminded them of a recent spot by a furniture retailer that read “Sofa King good deals” or a scaffolding firm that promised the “best erections in town”.
