Radio advertising grows in November

Australia’s five metropolitan radio stations boasted a combined advertising growth rate of 3.47% last month, compared to November last year, Deloitte /Commercial Radio Australia figures show.

Revenue was taken to $64.136 million, which means every market was up on November last year except for Brisbane.

Commenting on the figures, Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner said: “This is positive news for the industry and highlights the resilience and reliability of radio as an advertising medium in what is a tough trading environment.”

“We hope this is the start of a more positive trend for the rest of the financial year.”

In the five month lead up to November, revenues had fallen year-on-year by 2.07%.

The release comes as Southern Cross Austereo suspended all advertising on the 2DayFM network following the station’s prank call fallout.
