National Prevention Week kicks off

Prevention magazine kicked off its nation-wide campaign, National Prevention Week, yesterday in associated with Blackmores.

With an introductory breakfast and celebration this morning, the second year of the campaign saw five ambassadors provide advice and insights into their lives.

The campaign will run for a week with promotional initatives through the May print issue, online newsletters and Prevention’s various social media channels.

The crowd this morning at the Harbourside Room in the Museum of Contemporay Art in Sydney heard from Sally Obermeder (breast cancer ambassador), Dr Joanna McMillan (diabetes ambassador), Helen Dalley (healthy bones ambassador), Melinda Gainsford-Taylor (fitness ambassador) and Melissa Doyle (preventative health ambassador).

Jacqueline Mooney, editor of the Pacific Magazine’s title, addressed the audience about her commitment to the Prevention brand and her inspiration for National Prevention Week.

“About two years ago I woke up in the middle of the night with the crazy idea I would have my own week,” she said at the breakfast this morning.

“That tiny seed of an idea over the last two years really has grown so much bigger. It’s become bigger than I could have imagined.”

“This will be the second year we have held National Prevention Week – a campaign that reflects Prevention’s expertise and commitment to understanding and influencing the healthy lifestyle trends of Australian women today,” Karen Deveson, Healthy Lifestyle publisher at Pacific Magazines, said.
