BWM wins Ssangyong account

The new distributors of Ssangyong cars in Australia have severed ties with previous creative agency Brave and picked up BWM after a pitch.

The South Korean cars are now being distributed by Ateco, which also holds the rights to Great Wall, Cherry, Ferrari, Maserati and Lotus, under a new deal finalised last year.

Scott Kelly, marketing manager for Ateco, confirmed BWM’s appointment to the account, and said they were looking at a “step up” in marketing activity, with more dealers and “more aggressive pricing”.

Brave had handled the creative for the brand since 2009, most famously with a series of print executions including a rhino mounting a car, a hunter about to shoot a boar, and an ATM being pulled out of the wall.

Media for Ateco is split, with strategy handled by Match Media and buying by Ikon.
