Online shopping site Wish.com has found itself in a spot of body-shaming bother after it used petite models to advertise plus-sized women’s tights.

Wish.com appears to sell cheap Chinese apparel and the offending ads appeared in the US and have been called out by the website Yahoo Lifestyle.

The company has apparently been called out previously for the poor quality of its garments and the late shipping.

There are several versions of the offending ad including the model standing in one of the legs of the tights to show how roomy they are. There’s also a rather odd image of a man modelling the tights.

Naturally, social media users were none to happy with Wish’s advertising direction. “It’s a pretty poor advertisement. How is that going to make anybody want to buy the tights?” wrote one. While another added: “The PC crowd is not going to like this, they hate non-fatties.”

However, another offered this rather sage advice: “That’s not offensive at all. It’s just showing what the fat cows can look like, if they go on a diet.”
