Actor George Clooney Sells Tequila Brand To Diageo For $1.3bn

George Clooney has announced he has sold his tequila brand Casamigos for a very big price – $1.3 billion to be exact – to global alcohol behemoth Diageo.

The US actor launched the brand in 2013 with businessman and husband of Cindy Crawford Rande Gerber, and actor Mike Meldman.

Clooney said in a statement to Fox News that the deal “reflects Diageo’s belief in our company and our belief in Diageo”.

“If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion-dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes,” he said.

Clooney added that they plan on “still be[ing] very much a part of Casamigos”.
