ACA’s Ben McCormack Fronts Court On Child Pornography Charges
Disgraced A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack has this morning fronted Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on child pornography charges.
His lawyer, Sam Macedone (right in photo), told the court his client will enter a plea for child pornography charges later this month.
McCormack has two counts of using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child pornography. He has been stood down but not sacked by Nine and must report to police once a week. The broadcaster has refused to comment on the case.
Macedone said negotiations with the prosecution were still ongoing and he expected a plea would be entered when the matter returned to the court on September 26.
Both Macedone and McCormack fronted the cameras following the hearing, however, McCormack did not speak to waiting media.
McCormack, dressed in a blue suit and tie, looked relaxed considering the gravity of the charges.
Macedone told media he was confident a plea would be entered when the case returned to court, but did not say what it would be.
“I honestly hope that by the 26th of September I’ll have all the information I need and I can assure you that we’ll be entering a plea on that date,” Macedone said.
If found guilty, McCormack faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
