ABC Takes Action Against Reporter Accused Of Sexual Harassment

The ABC is taking “follow-up action” against a reporter at the broadcaster who has been accused of sexual harassment.

Speaking to The Australian, an ABC spokesperson said the broadcaster has “followed up on and made inquiries into a small number of complaints relating to the journalist’s professional conduct towards colleagues”.

The colleagues of the male reporter have claimed he sexually harassed them and acted inappropriately.

The spokesperson continued: “Our inquiries have concluded and appropriate follow-up action has been taken in accordance with the ABC workplace policies.

Adding: “To respect the confidentiality of those involved, the ABC will not comment further.”

According to The Oz, the ABC would not confirm the identity of the reporter.

The spokesperson also added there had been “rumours and some misinformation surrounding” the claims.

According to The Oz, the unnamed reporter made persistent sexual advances towards a female colleague and a social event and then became verbally abusive when she denied him.

He then threw the contents of his drink at her.

The Oz also confirmed the reporter has been made aware of the accusations and has been prevented from taking on a new role as a result.

B&T has contacted the ABC for further comment.
