BREAKING: Mike Wilson, Australia and NZ chairman and founder of Naked Communications, is to leave the agency.
His resignation was confirmed to B&T this afternoon and comes just a week after Naked lost the Labor Party account which resulted in a massive management crisis at the agency, which saw fellow Brit Nick Kavanagh leave.
Labor sacked Naked after it had been caught offering ''exclusive'' interviews with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in exchange for free pro-Labor advertising and editorial on three youth websites: The Vine, Vice and PedestrianTV.
Wilson, who previously worked as general manager at MEC, has worked at the Naked since he founded it in 2004.
Naked has now brought in Tim Parker, the former Clemenger Group executive director, to help with running the business as it searches for a replacement for Wilson.
In a statement Wilson said: “After nine of the most amazing years of my life I’m leaving Naked. In the nine years we’ve had a number of achievements, winning a few Cannes Lions, several Agency of the Year awards, and loads of Effies.
“However, what I’m really most proud of is the culture we’ve created and the very talented group of people that make Naked what it is.
“I will leave with many fond memories of the good times, great work and business success we have created along the way.”
