Ten’s new true-life crime program Wanted was absent from the top 20 most watched shows last night, but the network is “confident it will be a long-term build”.
Network Ten is “very happy” with Wanted’s premiere performance, according to director of corporate and public communications Neil Shoebridge, with the first episode watched by 632,000 capital-city viewers.
“It produced a significant lift in our audience in its timeslot, it beat our internal forecasts, and we are confident it will be a long-term build.”
Wanted, hosted by news presenters Sandra Sully and Matt Doran, lifted Ten’s average Monday 8.30pm-9.30pm total people audience by 57% and produced a 33% boost in 25s to 54s.
“We are not betting the farm on Wanted; it is part of a deliberate, considered strategy to improve our performance across all nights,” Shoebridge added.
“Just as importantly, Wanted engaged Australians and focused their attention on unsolved crimes. The number of calls received at the Crimestoppers call centre last night jumped 400%.”
Ten’s best performing program on Monday evening was MasterChef Australia, sitting in 19th place the competition pulled in 737,000 metro-viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary ratings.
