Undertow Media moves into NZ

Public relations agency Undertow Media will open an office in Auckland in August as the agency looks to further expansion.

Existing Undertow clients keen to ramp up their NZ media presence include Kathmandu, Tupperware, Intrepid Travel and Ocean Spray.

The new office's first client win is fashion brand Witchery.

Founder Jane Martino said with a strong presence in Victoria it was a “natural progression” to start expanding.

“We have multiple clients operating heavily in the New Zealand market so it was a perfect next step – and we won’t be stopping there,” Martino said.

Leading the NZ office is Greer Bland (pictured), Undertow's former general manager of the consumer division. Bland is replaced by Shelley Hammond.

The move into NZ has also resulted in the promotion of chief executive Jess Nunns to the new group CEO role with a remit of extending Undertow’s footprint.

“Expanding into new markets is a key objective for us in the next three years and this is not limited to traditional public relations,” Nunns said.

“The next logical step is to grow into the digital space, possibly by partnering with a digital specialist to complement our current offer.”

Undertow Media’s Auckland office will open on August 1.
