The Happy Project, a competition to find and fund an idea that is designed to make people happy, has launched Down Under.
The project, designed by Sydney brothers Mark and Adam Simpson, is an experiment in getting people thinking about other people’s happiness.
The creative industry has collaborated for the competition, with branding and strategy by Pollen, web design by Cobe, video animation by Sixty40@Heckler, PR by Catfish Media and crowd funding by Pozible.
Adam Simpson, animation director at Sixty40@Heckler, said: “Our project is just about people and happiness. Everyone has volunteered – designers, lawyers, judges, voiceover artists, script writers, ideas people, copywriters and web developers. No-one gets paid and no-one puts their brand on it.”
With $12,000 prize money, plus additional crowd funding, Simpson added: “It’s essential to get the public involved in helping select the winner.”
Four judges – Edward de Bono (thinker and author), Dasho Kinley Dorji (secretary of the Royal Government of Bhutan and advocate for Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness Index), Vince Frost (CEO of Frost Design) and Anna Waldman (from the College of Fine Arts at UNSW) – will select the top two entries. The public will then pick the winner.
Applications are open until October 15. Visit the Happy Project website for more details.
