Channel Seven is looking to dominate the free-to-air TV ratings tonight with the launch of the new X Factor.
The renewed and refreshed show is tipped to be one of the network’s biggest shows of the year.
It has already scored a major coup, reuniting sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue on-screen. It is the first time the sisters have worked together on Australian TV since a Young Talent Time concert in 1987.
Dannii, one of the X Factor judges, recruited Kylie to mentor her contestants on the reality TV show.
LMFAO frontman Redfoo has also been recruited to the judging panel, joining already-established judges Ronan Keating and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
Former Spice Girl Mel B is no longer a judge, after Seven took Nine to court over the former pop star appearing on its revamped Australia’s Got Talent. The court found in favour of Seven, after the network argued the star is not allowed to appear on other Aussie TV shows until after January 2014.
DJs Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O are marking the launch of the show with their ‘X Marks the Spot’ campaign in Sydney.
Channel 7 and 2DayFM have joined forces to give away $100,000, with the DJ duo giving out clues to the whereabouts of a mystery ‘X’, along with bonus clues on Channel 7 each night.
Ana Bacic, head of marketing at Seven, said: “Like our judges on the show, we want all of Sydney looking for the ‘X’ factor.”
