‘The Voice’ trumps the Federal Budget

The ABC’s special broadcast at 8pm of the Federal Budget only just managed to slip into the top ten most watched programs on Tuesday night, pulling in 967,000 viewers.

Treasuer Joe Hockey’s first Federal Budget speech just before at 7.30pm saw 946,000 viewers tuning in, according to OzTam preliminary ratings.

The Voice viewers apparently weren’t deterred away as the singing reality show on Nine still managed to make the number one spot with a total of 1.722 million viewers, more than the previous night’s result.

House Rules on Seven dipped slightly from Monday night, but still managed to snatch up more than one million viewers (1.029 million).

Coming off the high of its one million crack a few days ago, Masterchef saw its numbers slip to 701,000 viewers.

Resurrection on Seven managed to scrape back a few more viewers than the previous week’s episode, however Tuesday night’s result of 782,000 million was far fall from its premiere episode that almost smashed two million viewers.

Nine won the night easily with a total combined share of all free-to-air viewers of 33.5%.

Nine’s primary channel also saw a higher share (26.7%) than Seven’s total combined share (26.4%).

Seven’s main station won a share of 18.8%.

ABC also saw a share of 18.8%, however that was the network’s total combined share. ABC1 saw a share of 12.2% as ABC2 that broadcast the reaction to the Federal Budget at 8.30pm won a 2.3% share.

Ten had a total share of 17.5% with its main channel grabbing 12.5%.

SBS saw a share of 4.2%m with SBS One nabbing 3.4%, significantly down from the Eurovision broadcast.
