Ten has revealed the faces of its new breakfast show Wake Up, with Natarsha Belling, James Mathison and Natasha Exelby to front the panel.
The show will seek to break out of the studio mold and be filmed in Manly while Nuala Hafner presents the news from an undisclosed location in Melbourne.
Wake Up will seek to push the boundaries and topics of typical morning viewing while social media interaction will become a influential element. The ambitious offering will be the only breakfast show to screen local news for each state.
The show is the network’s attempt to take its share of the morning viewers that are currently warred over by Seven’s Sunrise and Nine’s Today.
The program comes under the leadership of Ten’s recently recruited Adam Boland who successfully launched Sunrise for Seven.
Commenting on the new show, Boland said: “We promised to be different and now we can deliver.”
“This show will never go near a studio. It’s an ambitious project, but one guaranteed to be fun.”
Natarsha is a long-time Ten presenter, while James has a history on Channel [V] and Australian Idol, and Natasha has worked as a political reporter for the network. News presenter Nuala has freelanced for Sunrise and The Morning Show, and Weekend Sunrise.
“Chemistry is everything at breakfast. We screen-tested plenty of combinations, but these guys had an instant dynamic. They can talk about anything and, trust me, with this format they will,” he said.
Ten also recently announced that Ita Buttrose and Joe Hildebrand would front its morning show while the rest of the panel is yet to be disclosed.
The new line up follow Ten's last failed attempt at the morning slot after Breakfast was cut due to poor ratings.
