Kelloggs’ breakfast cereal Special K has launched a new recipe to follow its healthier direction for 2014.
Well-known for its red bathing suits, this recipe makeover is the first time locally a recipe adjustment has been implemented within the brand’s history.
“As a brand we’ve been on a long journey with Aussie women to help them eat well and live an active lifestyle,” Kate Harris, Special K senior brand manager, said.
“In order to evolve with them, we as a brand need to evolve what we offer them. That’s why we’ve improved our recipe, making it more nutritious, but still with the same great taste.”
Accredited practising dietitian Nicole Senior also welcomed the change.
“It’s great to see an iconic brand like Special K taking a really positive step forwards and providing consumers with great tasting and nutritionally rich breakfast options.
“Special K contains protein and is enriched with essential nutrients that help unlock and utilise energy; the new recipe contains eight vitamins and minerals including iron.”
The new recipe will see 15% less sodium and wholegrain oats added meaning Special K now has a good source of fibre and wholegrain.
The new recipe will be available across the Special K range.
