Channel Nine is making a habit of winning at the moment, even when it’s number one ratings machine The Voice is off air, according the OzTam preliminary overnight ratings.

Although its audience share was brought back to the middle thanks to the absence of Seal and the gang, a muted 22.5% of metro share was enough to claim first place for Nine again.

Seven held steady in second with 20.5%, while the ABC picked up a relatively healthy 14.2% of share. Ten bagged 11.9% of the free-to-air share while SBS only mustered 3.8% of the metro audience on offer.

Without The Voice to compete with, Seven must be disappointed its new hope House Rules failed to build on its debut audience of 803,000. The show instead dropped, albeit slightly, to record an audience of 784,000 viewers. Overall, it took out 11th place, again, being beaten by the likes of The Big Bang Theory (1.23 million viewers) and The Block Sky High (1.06 million viewers), which were the first two programs behind Nine (1.31 million viewers) and Seven’s (1.26 million viewers) main news bulletins.

The ABC’s latest iteration of a show centred around the ever-popular Adam Hills debuted last night at number 10 with 797,000 people tuning in.

While Seven can’t seem to crack a winner at the moment, it would take some solace in the fact that Channel Ten doesn’t look like mounting a challenge to second place, with the struggling network only managing 14th for its first show, Modern Family, with 719,000.

Nine also dominated the 16-39 year old audience with The Big Bang Theory, The Block and its action drama Arrow (971,000 total metro audience) taking out the top three spots there.
