Schapelle loses to INXS, So You Think You Can Dance struggles

Nine’s decision to bring its telemovie Schapelle forward by one week failed to loosen Seven’s grip on Sunday night with Schapelle winning just over half the viewers of Seven’s INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.

Seven dominated 2014’s first official ratings night with a huge combined 37.6% share of all free-to-air viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Leading the charge for Seven was the first instalment of mini-series INXS drama, which at 8.30pm pulled in 1.974 million.

The result is huge compared to the 1.022 million viewers who tuned in to Nine’s Schapelle.

Nine had shifted Schapelle forward by a week in an attempt to capitalise on the media coverage surrounding Schapelle Corby’s release from a Bali prison.

Seven’s Sunday Night (1.793 million) also came out on top of Nine’s 60 Minutes (866,000).

My Kitchen Rules pulled in 1.640 million at 6.30pm while at the same time Nine’s The Block: Fans v Faves  won 1.274 million viewers.

Nine sat on a total share of 27%, more than 10 percentage points less than Seven’s combined share.

Nine’s primary channel won 21.7% while Seven took home 33.1%.

The Sochi Winter Olympics won Ten a top ten place with the live women’s snowboard slopestyle final pulling in 996,000 viewers from 8.10pm.

However Ten’s reality offering So You Think You Can Dance Australia was swamped by MKR and The Block as it pulled in less than half a million viewers (466,000) at 6.30pm.

Ten came third overall with a total 20.5% share of all FTA viewers with 11.1% going to its primary channel. Network ONE, which is also broadcasting the Olympic Winter Games, had a share of 7.2%.

ABC sat on a total 11.9% with 8.5% for ABC1 while SBS won a total 3.1% with 2.7% going to SBS ONE.
