Samsung sponsors SBS during World Cup

At its new product launch last night Samsung Australia announced its sponsorship of SBS for the network’s broadcast of the World Cup later this year.

SBS had secured exclusive rights to broadcast the matches with the network unveiling its schedule earlier this month.

In response to the growing multi-screen phenomenon where viewers use two or three screens simultaneously, Samsung also unveiled its new technology that will enable viewers to split the screen for their multi-screening habits.

The ‘multi-link’ feature enables the screen to be split into sections where you can watch your regular TV on one side and browse the internet for related content on the other.

A further technology introduced last night was the new curved TV.

“If the world around us isn’t flat, why should our TVs be?” Phil Newton, vice president of consumer products at Samsung Australia said to the audience last night.
