SCA: 2DayFM breakfast team a 'game of patience'
The radio industry is gearing itself up Thursday (April 24) when the ratings results of the second survey of the year are released.
The first survey of the year, which was also the first completed by new ratings provider GfK, had huge changes for the industry.
Those changes stood out in Sydney where Kyle & Jackie O took their listeners from Southern Cross Austereo’s 2DayFM to Australian Radio Network’s Kiis 1065, resulting in 2DayFM’s breakfast share dropping from 10.4% to 3.8%.
But SCA’s head of content, Craig Bruce, is confident 2Day’s new breakfast team (pictured below) “will eventually attract an audience”.
In a video released on the company’s SCA Engage platform today Bruce said it is “really early days” for the Jules Lund, Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Mel B program.
“Whilst we are happy with its progress it is going to take some time, it is a game of patience,” he said in the video.
He described 2014 as a “foundation year” for the new team and believes listeners will build as the on-air chemistry builds.
“SCA’s always been famous for building great shows and we reckon this batch coming through is going to be some of our best.”
Four shows Bruce said he was most excited about this year include the Today Network’s new national drive show Dan & Maz, Ed Kavalee joining The Grill Team on Triple M Brisbane, 92.9’s Heidi, Will & Woody and Fox FM’s Fifi & Dave.
Bruce described Dan & Maz as the “funniest, freshest, youngest sounding drive show in the country” and said Melbourne’s Fifi & Dave are “chugging along” like they have been on-air together for yonks.

Meanwhile, in other radio news ARN has rebranded its Classic Hits network to Classic Hits Pure Gold Network and internet radio service Pandora is reportedly being sued by record companies.
