National restructure for DT

EXCLUSIVE: Digital agency DT has formed a new national leadership team to bring together its Melbourne and Sydney operations as the business looks to expand beyond Australia.

The new structure and seven promotions come after the STW agency was appointed to Tourism Australia’s digital creative services account.

Brian Vella (pictured), managing director of DT, told B&T that the new team will give the business “scalability moving forward” as it continues to eye off opportunities in South East Asia.

“It’s about strengthening the team and providing a better link between Melbourne and Sydney,” said Vella, who wants to avoid a “supplier relationship” developing between the two offices.

“We want to have exactly the same capability and talent in the Sydney office as we have in Melbourne so they are both strong.”

The new leadership team consists of a national strategy director, creative director, technology director and experience design director.

Melbourne strategy director Tim Evans has been promoted to the national strategy role, Jason Deacon has been elevated to national CD and Tom Beeby is now head technology director.

UX director Adam Schilling has been promoted to the national experience design director position, a role that will see him responsible for both design and user experience design.

“This new core leadership team gives us the ability to scale beyond Australia,” Vella said.

DT first signalled plans to expand into South East Asia in December last year when it underwent a rebrand from DTDigital and repositioning to a creative technology agency.

As a result of the latest changes, Sam Mackisack is now the new Melbourne strategy lead, with Adam Beaupeurt to be Sydney’s strategy lead. Richard Stuart has also been promoted to UX team lead in Melbourne.

While the changes coincide with the agency’s Tourism Australia appointment Vella said they were on the cards long before.

“That win is going to be great for our Sydney office it is a massive boost and a huge piece of business.”

As a result of the win there are 20 positions DT is looking to fill across its Melbourne and Sydney offices.

DT Sydney has been open for approximately 18 months and now consists of around 40 staff members. DT Melbourne has 130.

DT’s clients include Bunnings, Honda, Myer and Officeworks, among others.
