Qantas encourages in-flight doodling

In a new social media campaign, Qantas is encouraging passengers to pass their flight-time creatively by using the inflight bag in their seat pocket, napkin or boarding pass to create an artwork and share via social media using #qantasblankcanvas.

Qantas have worked with Australian freelance typographer Gemma O’Brien in the campaign.

Gemma O'Brien discovered her passion for typography while learning letterpress at UNSW's College of Fine Arts, and now creates beautiful hand-drawn designs in pen and ink.

During a recent Qantas flight, O’Brien used the inflight bag as the canvas for her designs, and is now inviting others to do the same.

The first New York-inspired doodle sparked a body of works produced at 30,000 feet, becoming a way to pass the time while exploring her creative limits in the cabin. These works will be exhibited across the Sydney Domestic Qantas Club throughout May.

The most creative entries by passengers will be selected and shared via Qantas’ Instagram channel every Friday in May, and winners will receive a double Qantas Club pass.
