Nine News at 6.30 beats Today Tonight

The second-half of Nine’s extended news bulletin ranked second last night only to the earlier broadcast of Seven News.

At 6.30pm on Thursday evening there were 997,000 people tuned in to Nine News, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

It beat Seven’s Today Tonight which pulled in 869,000 viewers at the same time.

The first half of the bulletin lost to Seven News (1.022 million) but 973,000 viewers choose Nine News at 6pm.

The extended news broadcast helped Nine win the night with a total combined 28.1% share of all free-to-air viewers.

Seven came second with a total 26.1%.

Seven’s main channel won 16.8% behind Nine’s 19.2%.

Ten came third on a total 19.8% share with 13.5% for the network’s primary channel.

Ten’s best performing broadcast as the T20 Big Bash League. Just over 670,000 cricket fans turned to Ten for the game’s first half and 547,000 remained to watch session two.

The ABC came fourth overall with total share of 18.5% with 12.6% of that going to ABC1.

SBS brought up the rear with 7.5% with 6.1% for SBS ONE.
