Next season of Geordie Shore to film in Sydney

The cast of British dramality series Geordie Shore are coming down under to how the residents of the Shire how it's done, filming their sixth season in Sydney.

Eight one-hour episodes of he show, which MTV claims is the most popular in Australia for 16-29s, will be shot in the autumn, with the third episode of series four the most watched so far.

The series,which follows the ins and outs of a group of party loving youngsters from Newcastle, was one of the inspirations for Ten's defunct The Shire.

More than 81,000 of the 728,000 Facebook fans are from Australia and New Zealand.

Rebecca Batties, vice president and general manager for Music Brands and comedy for VIMN Australia and New Zealand said: "Geordie Shore has proven to be a bona fide hit with Australian and New Zealand viewers, and we couldn’t be more excited to host them down under.

"To get the Geordies on our shores is an amazing opportunity that is bound to take their connection with Australian fans to a whole new level.”

In the UK premiers of he show regularly out rate terrestrial competitors in the16-34 demographic, and it has more than 7m Twitter followers between the official and cast accounts.
