News Corp ups online subs price on the The Oz

News Corp Australia has increased the price of its weekly digital subscription from $2.95 to $4.

“This is the first price increase since we became the first general newspaper brand to launch digital subscriptions in 2011,” a News Corp Australia spokesperson said.

“A digital subscription now also includes The Australian’s digital print edition and lite access to news+. We are continually evolving our digital subscription offer and believe that $4 a week represents great value for money.

The Australian now has over 55,000 digital subscribers, a number that has been growing around 10% per quarter. When you combine this with print sales, The Australian now has more paying weekday customers than at any time in its history.”

The increase should add another $57,000 to the company’s coffers each week or just over $3 million on an annual basis. A figure News will no doubt hope expands further in the very near future.
