News Corp Australia’s CEO Kim Williams has welcomed Brett Clegg back with open arms to the role of the publishing giant's new regional director for New South Wales.

As heavily tipped yesterday, Clegg will take over the reins of the postion previously held by Michael Miller, who left to become CEO at APN News & Media earlier this year.

Clegg will be responsible for the business division meeting its consumer, commercial and operational targets.

Williams (pictured) said: “Brett brings a strong mixture of editorial and commercial skills to the company.  We are delighted he has decided to return.

“Brett has a thorough working knowledge of the varied ways customers are consuming news today. He also understands advertisers’ needs to connect with audiences in smart ways that build brands and promote and sell products.

“Brett joins News Corp Australia at an exciting time.  We have invested strongly in our media assets and products and in backing journalism through things such as our new editorial management system."

Clegg added: “I am happy to be returning to News Corp Australia. I can’t wait to start working with the team on the company’s continued program to ensure customers get outstanding journalism across all the platforms they love as we strive to meet their needs.

"The company has a stand-out set of assets including brands such as The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, and a wide range of digital products and community mastheads. Over seven million people a week visit the company’s diverse digital news sites, and the mastheads are clear leaders.

“I am looking forward to working with colleagues at News Corp Australia as we offer customers and advertisers quality products that represent great value," Clegg added.
