The return of Neighbours on Eleven to Australian screens saw just under 250,000 viewers tune in to the iconic Aussie soap.
According to audience measuring company Oztam, the debut episode of the 29th year of Neighbours was the most watched show in all free-to-air multi channels.
Even with this win, Ten couldn’t compete with Seven and Nine for the top place, coming in third overall with a total combined 22.4% share of all free-to-air viewers.
Seven and Nine battled it out again for top place, but this time the animals won over at Seven, with Dog Patrol at 7.30pm and Animal Airport at 8pm named the two most watched shows behind the news.
Border Security just before Dog Patrol also helped Seven boost its viewers, leading the channel to a total of 29.7% amongst all its channels.
Seven’s primary channel had the highest ratings 21.1%.
The high number of viewers of over one million on Nine’s news programs couldn’t help the channel claim victory, coming in second with a total of 25.4% amongst all its channels.
Ten came in third closely followed by the ABC (18.4% total) with SBS falling behind (4.6% total).
