Naked NZ shuts its doors

Naked Communications has closed its office in New Zealand with the loss of five jobs.

Mike Wilson (pictured), Australia and NZ chairman at Naked, confirmed to B&T this evening that the agency had ceased operations and closed its doors in Auckland.

He said the move was made so that the agency could better focus its attention on its operations in Sydney and Melbourne, given what he called “tougher business conditions” in New Zealand right now.

"Conditions are tough in New Zealand and a global strategic decision has been made to focus on Sydney and Melbourne,” said Wilson.

Part of the closure involves the office's five-strong staff being made redundant, including the agency’s New Zealand managing partner, Matt O'Sullivan, who has been with Naked for four years.

“The Naked team in New Zealand have already been informed about the office closing and we will doing everything we can to help them though it, including looking if we can find something else for them within the Naked network," added Wilson.

O’Sullivan is being tipped to open his own agency.
