More changes for IPG with new mobile CEO

IPG Mediabrands has promoted commercial director Travis Johnson to chief executive of Mnet, the mobile business it acquired earlier this year.

Johnson’s (pictured) involvement in the acquisition, which was announced on February 1, made him a “natural choice” for CEO, said IPG’s executive chairman Henry Tajer.

“Travis was a key player in the considerations leading to the Mnet acquisition and since then has helped drive Mnet’s growth and assimilation into our group businesses and client portfolios,” Tajer said.

“He is a prolific thinker on digital communications and one of the most effective executives I have ever worked with.”

Bob Humphreys, who was CEO of the mobile business prior to and during the acquisition, has been moved to a new role as general manager of Enterprise.

The changing of the guard at Mnet is the latest in a string of changes at IPG.

Last week, IPG Mediabrands Australia announced plans to launch a fourth media company called BPN.

That news came after the announcement that former Ikon Communications CEO, Dan Johns, was to be IPG’s new group director.
