Mix FM duo to present inaugural Women in Media Awards

With only days to go before the deadline passes for entries to the first ever Women in Media Awards, B&T can reveal that Mix FM’s female breakfast duo will be presenting the awards on the night.

Sami Lukis and Yumi Stynes (pictured) made Australian broadcasting history this year as Sydney’s first ever all female FM breakfast radio hosts on Mix106.5, taking their lead from Chrissie Swan and Jane Hall in Melbourne on Mix101.1.

Their popular morning show offers breakfast listeners a unique perspective to the lifestyles of the 25-44 year old female demographic.

Stynes previously co-hosted Network Ten’s The Circle, with the show winning a Logie for best light entertainment in 2011. Last year she was nominated for best newcomer at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards for Mix FM's weekday radio show The 3pm Pick Up.

Lukis previously co-hosted the drive show on Mix FM for Sydney and Melbourne, while also enjoyed stints working at Nine Network, Foxtel, Network Ten and Triple M.

The Women in Media Awards recognises those exceptional women who have achieved success in their professional arenas and celebrates their invaluable contribution through their leadership, innovation and courage to their industry.

Entries in the ten categories, which span the advertising and media industry, are open to women at any level of their business, from chief executive to new starters, and will be judged by a panel of top female executives.

The awards night will be a sit-down dinner with a keynote address from a leading woman in the industry, and is part of the MAD Week festival.

Entries for the awards must be in by this Friday, 3 May. Entry criteria for all awards and more details can be found on the MAD Week website here.

The finalists will be announced on Monday 10 June, with the awards being handed out on Tuesday 16 July during MAD week.
