Sami Lukis and Yumi Stynes are the new face of Mix 106.5’s breakfast show as Australian Radio Network (ARN) makes major changes to the Sydney station’s line-up.

One-year old breakfast offering Rosso and Claire has been dropped as ARN seeks to build a morning offering similar to Melbourne’s Mix 101.1 which is led by Chrissie Swan and Jane Hall.

The revamp will see Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross (pictured below) move into drive to replace Lukis and her co-host Ant Simpson from the Ant & Sami Lukis show.

Simpson will leave the network at the end of 2012 along with Rosso’s former breakfast co-host Claire Hooper.

Duncan Campbell, national content director at ARN, said the combination of Lukis and Stynes will make for “an exciting new show at breakfast in Sydney in 2013”.

“The chemistry between them is fantastic and they fit the station perfectly. This  move allows us to create compelling content for the audience that is unique to Mix106.5 Sydney  in what will be another competitive year for radio, particularly at breakfast.”

The appointment is a come-back for Stynes whose public persona took a hit after she and George Negus mocked SAS war hero Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith on the axed Ten program, The Circle.

In August the Mix FM network dropped Stynes from its national radio program the 3pm Pick-Up, which she co-hosted with Chrissie Swan, and replaced her with Jane Hall.

On their new show Stynes and Lukis said: “We’re really excited to be joining Mix106.5 for breakfast in 2013! The two of us are especially proud that we’ll be Sydney’s only all-female breakfast team.”

“We’re going to bring a fresh perspective to the kinds of things that we ourselves – and our audience – go through every day.”

The combination of Swan and Hall has hit a chord in Melbourne with Mix FM’s 25-44-year old female demographic. In the most recent ratings survey, they took a 5.7% share of breakfast listeners – the duo’s highest result yet. To read more about Swan and Hall see B&T's profile of the pair 'Mixing it Up' here.

In comparison Mix 106.5’s Rosso and Claire sat on 3.9% in the previous survey while Ant and Sami Lukis claimed 5.2%.

The year’s final ratings survey is set to be released next week.
