Major brands line up for Ten's Lions showdown

Swisse, Land Rover, Samsung, AMP, Disney and Unilever have all jumped on board as major sponsors of Channel Ten's broadcast of the Qantas Wallabies against British & Irish Lions.

The series marks the opening salvo of Ten’s exclusive free-to-air broadcasts of  Australian rugby union matches since they outbid Channel 9 late last year, a deal that runs to 2015.

Branded as ‘RU On TEN’, it also marks Ten's first airing of a major rugby union match since the 2007 World Cup in France.

Network Ten chief sales officer, Barry O’Brien, said: “The British & Irish Lions tour has been 12 years in the making. It is event TV at its best. Sponsors could not wait to be part of RU on TEN. The level of demand was extraordinary."

The Lions haven’t played on Australian soil since 2001, and having just being beaten by the ACT Brumbies last night, will have a lot to prove when they meet the Wallabies in the first test this Saturday night in Brisbane.
