Last night Cannes officially opened. Always a strange concept on day three of the festival. But the opening gala didn't disappoint. There’s something about a party on the beach that makes it, well, better.
In pursuit of peace and calm, we spent today in the air-conditioned Palais listening to a shopping list of big ticket speakers
Mofilms were joined on stage by Jimmy Wales (Founder of Wikipedia). They told us that agencies are redundant. Conan O’Brien and CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper, opened with the line ‘advertisers are scum’ and closed with ‘you all disgust me’. P.Diddy (Sean Combes) let us know that he hates watching commercials.
My hangover got worse.
Then we heard from Sir Alan Parker, Goodby Silverstein, Ideo and Victors & Spoils. It got more positive.
I felt better again.
