INXS and MKR win Seven more than 40%

The demise of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence proved compelling viewing last night as the drama and My Kitchen Rules helped Seven to a whopping 41.9% share of all free-to-air viewers.

Sunday night’s elimination episode of My Kitchen Rules was Seven’s best performing program and the evening’s most watched with 1.863 million viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

In second place was the show Seven promoted as the TV event of the year, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart with an audience of 1.768 million.

The result is slightly down on INXS’ first audience result of 1.974 million.

In third place for Seven was Sunday Night with 1.684 million viewers.

The trio of programs above 1.5 million helped seven take a huge combined audience share of 41.9%.

Seven’s primary channel won 35.9% of all FTA viewers alone last night.

In second place was Nine on a total 24.4% and 18% for its main channel.

The Block: Fans v Faves room reveal came second to MKR with 1.361 million viewers, the series' highest rating episode yet.

60 Minutes was Sunday night’s seventh most watched program with an audience of 858,000.

The snowboard cross final came in eighth place overall of Ten with 825,000 viewers.

So You Think You Can Dance also featured in the top 20 for Ten with 313,000 viewers.

Tens overall share was 17.6% with 9.4% for its primary channel and 6% for ONE which is also broadcasting the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The ABC came fourth last night with a share of 12.7% and 9.5% for ABC1.

SBS sat on 3.4% with 2.9% for SBS ONE.
