Heston Blumenthal strikes deal with Coles

British molecular gastronomist and celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal has entered an exclusive partnership with supermarket giant Coles.

The deal will see Blumenthal create an extensive range of products with a focus on Australian and Indigenous ingredients.

Blumenthal, who holds multiple honorary degrees in recognition of his scientific approach to cooking, is currently meeting local suppliers and manufacturers with the aim of including as many native Australian ingredients as possible into his new Coles range.

“It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity to work with Coles and to fully explore the different tastes and flavours of Australia," said Blumenthal.

“Australia not only boasts one of the most exciting restaurant scenes in the world, but the whole country seems to be excited by the food scene so there’s a brilliant energy.

“Coles, as the leading supermarket here in Australia, has fully embraced this food scene and together, we are hoping to create something a little innovative and a little different for Australian shoppers,” he said.

Simon McDowell, Coles marketing and store development director said that Blumenthal was the ‘perfect choice for Coles’.

“This exclusive partnership signals an amazing new opportunity for Coles and one that reinforces our commitment to continually push the boundaries of food innovation,” said McDowell.

“Through Heston’s new range, our customers will now have everything they need to bring some Heston magic to their meals, all year round.”

Blumenthal’s range will be updated seasonally and will comprise of a host of products across the meat, deli, bakery and grocery departments and will be available in Coles stores by Autumn 2014.
