Gruen Nation once again put on a strong show for the ABC last night, pulling in its biggest audience for the finale of the four-part election advertising special series.

The show scored an audience of 1.179 million people across Australia’s five city metro areas – up from 1.045 million last week, according to figures from Oztam.

Gruen Nation attracted an audience of 1.052 million in its second week and 1.028 million in its first.

The mini series has now concluded, ahead of polling day on Saturday, but Gruen Planet returns to our screens next Wednesday.

The first episode of election special series Kitchen Cabinet (pictured), with Annabel Crabb, also performed well for the ABC. A total of 921,000 people (putting it in seventh place) switched on to watch opposition leader Tony Abbott invite Crabb into his Sydney home.

And the ABC’s The Hamster Decides also made it into the top 10, in eighth place with 913,000 people watching.

Nine News topped the most-watched free-to-air TV shows last night, with 1.264 million people tuning in, closely followed by Seven News, which attracted 1.183 million pairs of eyes.

Completing the top 10 were Nine’s A Current Affair (1.088 million), Seven’s Today Tonight (1.035 million), Seven’s Home and Away (943,000), the ABC News (911,000) and the ABC’s 7.30 (899,000).

Seven’s Slideshow and Nine’s Big Brother were both inched out of the top 10, in 11th and 12th places with audiences of 830,000 and 807,000 respectively.

Ten’s Wonderland also slipped down the ratings, into 15th spot with an audience of 688,000.
