Greet the heat with 'Meatwave'

Gourmet burger outlet Grill’d has created a temperature controlled promotion that will see freebies offered to hungry fans, but only once the temperature hits a certain level.

The ‘Meatwave’ promotion will launch one week after Victorians swelter through a week-long heatwave with multiple days of 40 degree plus heat and fire fighters rein in fires in Western Australia.

Those seeking a free burger, beer or another indulgence need to sign up via the Grill’d Facebook page and pick up a free ‘Meatwave’ registration card at their local restaurant.

When the target temperature, set on the Monday of each week, is reached the region will be highlighted ‘Active’ on the map (see below) from the ‘Meatwave’ website.

Simon Crowe, founder of Grill’d, said: “Australians love to talk about the great weather and, as Grill’d is a 100 per cent Australian born and bred business, we’ve decided to take this one step further and celebrate the heat the best way we know how.”

“Heatwaves, lazy beach days and blazing sunshine are all staples of the season, but never before have the Australian people been rewarded for the hot weather. The ‘Meatwave’ initiative is a first – giving Australians another great reason to look forward to a long hot summer.”

The promotion will run for four weeks from Monday January 20 until Sunday, February 16.

The promotion and digital assets were created by Vice Australia with digital agency Deepend behind the Facebook app and website.
