Google hires P&G boss as new director

Google has appointed Procter & Gamble MD Maile Carnegie as its new country director, replacing Nick Leeder.

Carnegie has been P&G’s boss for Australia and New Zealand for the past three years, and has spent more than 20 years at P&G in roles across Australia, Singapore, and the United States.

She takes over from Nick Leeder who left his role Down Under in March to take up the same position in France. Google has been searching for a replacement since.

Carnegie joined P&G in 1992 and worked in the Australia/NZ Marketing team until 1999. She worked as a Marketing/Commercial Director in P&G's Cincinnati head office between 1999 and 2006 where she ran a number of billion dollar North American and Global businesses.

Most recently she was based in Singapore where she ran P&G’s largest developing market beauty care business and was general manager for Asia Strategy, marketing and design. She holds a degree in business administration in finance, economics and marketing from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is on the advisory board of the University of Technology, Sydney.

She will begin in her role on July 15.
