Gem's ratings continue to climb thanks to Agar and The Ashes

With history being made in The Ashes last night thanks to teen Ashton Agar making the highest ever score by a final batsman, Gem’s ratings continued to climb. 665,000 viewers tuned into the The Ashes Day Two seeing it move up from 16th to 13th spot on OzTam’s preliminary ratings of last night's 20 most popular shows.  

Nine enjoyed another evening of ratings domination taking 42% of audience share with Nine News taking the evening’s top spot with 1.334m viewers and The Block Sky High following at 1.266m, and a Current Affair coming 4th with 1.076m. The Footy Show also made it to the top ten at 8th place with 864,000 viewers.

The Ashes also dominated the subscription channels with Fox Sports 2 enjoying the top two most popular spots. It attracted 27,000 extra viewers on the launch from the Wednesday night, up to 428,000.

Seven had 22.2% of  free-to-air television screens last night with the news attracting 1.125m viewers, Today Tonight losing against A Current Affair at 1.076m viewers, Border Security: International taking 612,000 and M-Red attracting 576,000.

ABC had 15.3% of viewers with Catalyst its highest rating show after the news-related programs with 615,000 viewers.

Ten had 14.8% with Law & Order taking 19th spot in the top 20 and its only other show to make the cut being the news.

SBS had 5.7% of audience share.
