Adland’s Lucy Wallrock is turning her life-long love of cooking into TV success after making it into the 22 contestants on the new MasterChef.
Wallrock, who has been with MercerBell since 2007 and is now digital project director at the agency, is hoping the skills she learnt from her mother, who worked as a professional chef, will help her win the show, which kicked off on Network Ten on Sunday.
Wallrock admitted that cooking is what she longs to do for a living. She said: “I have always wanted to cook for a living. I turned 30 and it suddenly dawned on me that I have been working in a profession I didn’t choose.
“We spend about 70% of our waking days at work, so we should be doing something that we love and makes us happy. For me, that’s cooking.”
Nick Mercer, CEO of MercerBell, added: “We knew Lucy was a great cook, but to make it to the top 22 of MasterChef is an impressive achievement. Hopefully when she comes back we can tempt her to whip up an occasional client lunch!”
