Former Today Tonight EP joins Ten as news director

Network Ten has hired Seven’s former Today Tonight executive producer, John Choueifate, as director of news, Sydney.

Choueifate is now responsible for Ten Eyewitness News Sydney and the servicing of all national bulletins and segments produced in the city. He replaces Paul Patrick who left the post in early November.

The appointment marks a return to the network for Choueifate, who worked at Ten between 1988 and 1991.

Hamish McLennan, Network Ten’s chief executive, said: “We are very pleased that John has agreed to come back to Ten.”

“He is one of the best News and Current Affairs executives in the country and will bring his vast experience and contacts to TEN Eyewitness News and our Sydney newsroom.”

Choueifate resigned from Today Tonight in June this year.

His previous tenure at Ten saw him tackle roles such as chief of staff and foreign editor.

He has also previously been director of news and chief of staff at Nine Network Sydney.
