Dynamo's magic second to Nine

Without big ticket reality programs The X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent news broadcasts found themselves at the top of the ratings with Seven News winning the race.

Seven News had 1.16 million viewers on Thursday night ahead of Nine News’ 1.159 million, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

It was Nine that took the largest total share of audience, winning 29.2% of all free to air viewers with its combination of Nine, Go! and Gem.

Seven was close behind with 26.8% and Ten sat just behind the ABC’s 19.2% on 18.8%.

Nine’s Big Brother had 756,000 viewers and Ten’s reality comp MasterChef Australia – Masterclass claimed 666,000.

The Footy Show on Nine had 866,000 viewers while Seven’s Please Marry My Boy had an audience of 491,000.

Dynamo: Magician Impossible was just short of the million mark, pulling in 968,000 viewers to Seven.

The ABC’s result was boosted by Upper Middle Bogan (823,000), It’s A Date (744,000) and 7.30 (704,000). ABC News had 896,000 viewers.
