The duo behind Qantas’ Cannes Gold Lion winning series The Great Crusade have turned their attention to NSW’s wine region with a comedic YouTube series, PLONK.
PLONK, created by Nathan Earl and Glen Condie, is a series about a dysfunctional group’s attempts to create a TV show all about wine.
Featuring The Chaser’s Chris Taylor as the program’s celebrity host, Earl as the struggling producer and Josh Tyler as ‘the expert’, it is supported by Destination NSW.
George Souris, Minister for tourism and major events, said: “This new series will provide a unique platform to promote wine touring and experiences throughout NSW wine regions in a light-hearted way. Each episode will capture a different NSW wine destination, highlighting the quality and diversity of experiences available in the NSW wine regions – despite the presenters’ best attempts to critique the wine.”
Earl added: “Wine shows in general are ripe for parody. With PLONK we get to celebrate the industry and poke fun at the way it’s portrayed at the same time.”
As well as Earl, Taylor and Tyler there will be cameo appearances by well known wine industry figures in PLONK such as Tyrell’s Wines’ Bruce Tyrrell.
PLONK will make its debut in February next year here and updates will available on this Facebook page.
Qantas’ ‘The Great Crusade’, created by Wonder Sydney, won gold at last year’s Cannes Lions in the Branded Content & Entertainment category.
