Compare the Market is on the lookout for a new general manager after it was confirmed that James Fleet has left the company to take over as CMO at Appliances Online.
Fleet (pictured), who previously spent over two years at Appliances Online, has returned to head up marketing for the leading online appliance and electronics retailer.
When contacted by B&T about a replacement for Fleet, a spokesperson for Compare the Market was unable to comment.
As general manager at Compare the Market, Fleet headed up the marketing and technology for the business, helping launch one of UK’s most loved brand characters in Australia, the quirky meerkat Alexandr Orlov.
Fleet has over a decade experience working with online retailers across various industries, including stints at Tribal DDB, Westpac New Zealand, and as business development manager for First Rate and TMP Worldwide.
John Winning, CEO of Appliances Online and the Winning Group, said Fleet’s appointment is a great asset for the company.
"As we operate in a highly competitive industry, it's essential we stay top-of-mind for Australians and continue to demonstrate our exceptional customer service as a key differentiator. James’ knowledge and experience with marketing technology will prove vital in ensuring that Appliances Online strengthens its national brand awareness and continues to achieve solid growth,” he said.
Fleet added: “Appliances Online’s growth has skyrocketed since it launched in 2005 and there’s no doubt that it is an online retail market leader not only for the whitegoods and appliances industry but also for Australia. I’m looking forward to building on the already solid position Appliances Online has in the market and to push the boundaries to engage with customers in thoughtful and innovative ways.”
Last month, creative agency VCCP launched its first locally-made Compare the Meerkat campaign for the Compare the Market website.
