Bauer Media's CEO Matthew Stanton has said the publishing company is considering moving its automotive titles and staff to Melbourne.
Stanton said in a statement that the move is part of a “need to explore all ways of ensuring a sustainable operating model for the coming years. This proposed change would create a more holistic print and digital strategy around our motoring assets."
Some of the nine Bauer titles to be affected by the change include Auto Action, 4×4 Australia, and Wheels which has been based in Sydney for the past 60 years. The BBC Worldwide Park Publishing title of Top Gear Australia which sits under the Bauer Australia umbrella will remain in Sydney.
Staff have been invited to provide feedback on the proposal, which would see a transition to a single publishing unit within the Bauer Trader Media group, located in Oakleigh, Victoria.
Contrary to reports in the national media, the move to Melbourne has not yet be confirmed.
